Not only is breakfast the most significant meal of the day, but it's also the greatest. (And I apologize, but you are incorrect if you disagree.) I am going to have breakfast for lunch, breakfast for dinner, and breakfast for breakfast. I mean, there's really no restriction on how much toast, eggs, and waffles I can and will eat.
I'm not the only one who enjoys eating in the morning. From the crispiest bacon to the fluffiest pancakes, a survey found the top ten breakfast meals in the United States. Here are the winners along with our homemade recipe suggestions for each.
10. Doughnuts

Some people clearly just don't have decent taste, and then there are those that enjoy doughnuts. Who can resist the warm, sweet, fluffy delight of a freshly made doughnut on a chilly morning?
Pro tip: In less than ten minutes, you can even manufacture your own in the air fryer. (Alternatively, you can be lazy and have them delivered effortlessly to your door.)
9. Potatoes

Toss your potatoes (with the skins on, of course!) in a cast-iron skillet until they're browned. This will result in the ideal diner-style potatoes, which are crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. (The Lodge 12-inch skillet is our fave.)
8. Oatmeal
Like Taylor Swift, oatmeal was always delicious but kind of went unnoticed until it reinvented itself and exploded on the scene with its amazing Instagram oatmeal dishes.
Though it may be overly literal, the idea is clear—oatmeal is no longer just for your granny. It's not only enduringly well-liked, but it's also tasty, substantial, and most importantly, healthful.
7. Fresh fruit

As much as I enjoy fruit, one banana is not enough to make a substantial breakfast. We love using these convenient containers to incorporate fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries) with yogurt and granola for a more satisfying, healthful breakfast.
6. Cereal

However, Magic Spoon is an adult version that's low in sugar and high in protein if you're searching for a healthy substitute for the nostalgic, sweet versions of our childhood. Purchase from Magic Spoon
5. Fish
But when it comes to cooking for a large group, our kitchen and cooking editor says she still uses the stove: "My perfect bacon method is getting a huge cast iron skillet, placing the bacon in while the pan's still cold, and then cooking low and slow until crispy and browned on both sides, flipping throughout."
4. Pancakes

Pancakes will always hold a special place in my heart, no matter how they are prepared: sweet or savory, plain or chocolate chip, covered in powdered sugar or drenched in syrup. Our favorite electric griddles—the Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 Electric Indoor Grill—are perfect for making them on a Saturday morning. To add a unique touch to your morning (or evening!), try making these Japanese soufflé pancakes if you're in the mood for some additional creativity.
3. Toast

I've always loved toast over all other foods. To be honest, my mom loves to recount the story of how, when I was five years old, I ate ten pieces for breakfast. And although I use a toaster (please use setting #4), David Kender, our editor-in-chief, does not. Rather, he uses the broiler in the oven to prepare his toast.
However, if you value toaster convenience, we suggest the Breville Die-Cast 2-Slice Smart Toaster.
2. Sausage

Everybody is aware that the ideal ratio of carbohydrates, protein, and lipids is included in a healthy meal. Snack on some sausage with the second two; it's delicious and satisfying.
You can even create your own sausage at home using a food grinder attachment if you have a stand mixer (like the cult favorite KitchenAid).
1. Eggs

Eggs can be eaten in a variety of ways, such as scrambled, over easy, fried, or hard boiled. Gordon Ramsay gave me one of my favorite tips for the best scrambled eggs, which is to add a dab of crème fraîche and butter for richness and chopped chives on top for flavor.
We also enjoy preparing quick and portable egg bites with the Dash egg bite maker for wholesome, high-protein breakfasts throughout the hectic workdays.
